Owl Study
Owl Study
This 8" x 10" oil painting on cradled wood panel is the first in an ongoing series exploring animal headdresses as a lens for identity, instinct, and transformation.
Each piece in the series approaches the subject as a study, an opportunity to observe the subtle overlap between human expression and animal presence. In this painting, the barn owl becomes both a physical form and a quiet extension of the figure beneath it. Known for its stillness and heightened awareness, the owl introduces a sense of calm focus and interiority.
Painted with a restrained palette and soft, layered brushwork, the piece emphasizes atmosphere and sensitivity over detail alone. Edges dissolve and re-emerge, allowing the image to feel both grounded and fleeting at the same time.
This piece marks the beginning of a larger body of work. Limited prints will be available soon.
